Some patients may be added to the CCR database without actually having been UUHSC patients. In these cases, rather than pulling their basic demographic information from the EDW, since no record exists for them in that database, the patient's basic demographic and contact information is added manually in CCR when the patient is added to the cancer group — see Adding a Patient Who Has Never Been a UUHSC Patient and The Non UUHSC Patients Tab (New Patient Wizard). Because this information is stored in the CCR database instead of the EDW, it is actually editable. For the rest of the patients in the database (those who have been UUHSC patients), this information simply cannot be edited (except for race/ethnicity information — see Race) because it is displayed directly from the EDW.
To view/edit the demographic/contact information of one of these patients:
Open the patient detail record for the patient in question. See Viewing/Editing a Patient Record for instructions on how to do this.
Select Edit-View/Edit Demographics from the menus in the menu bar at the top of the patient detail window. The View/Edit Demographics window will open.
Make any necessary changes to the patient's demographic and/or contact information. See The View/Edit Demographics Window for a description of the fields presented on this window. If you make any changes on the window, click the Update button in the lower right corner of the window to ensure that your changes are saved and close the window.
If there are changes which have been made on the window and have not been saved, the letters on the Update button will appear in bold red until you have saved those changes.
To close the window without saving any changes, click the Cancel button. If you have made any changes on the window, a dialog will open asking you to confirm that you want to close the window without saving those changes. Show me the dialog. Click Yes to confirm that you want to close the window and realize that your changes will not be saved. The dialog and the window will close.
