Medical events can be linked to other medical events using the Associated Medical Events grid on the Overview tab of the Medical Event Detail window. This is a two-way link. When you link a medical event to another medical event, these medical events will automatically appear in each other's Associated Medical Events grid. Once the link has been established, you can access an associated medical event record directly from the current medical event record by double-clicking on that event in the Associated Medical Events grid on the Overview tab.

To associate a medical event with another medical event:

Open the Medical Event Detail window for the first medical event. See Viewing/Editing a Medical Event for instructions on how to do this.

Make sure the Overview tab is selected.

Click on the + button above the Associated Medical Events grid on that tab.

The Link Medical Event window will open with the list of medical events recorded for the patient appearing.

Click on the row of the medical event to be linked to the current medical event record from those listed in the Medical Events grid on that window. The row will be highlighted in yellow.

If the medical event record you are looking for doesn't show up in the grid, you may need to add it to the patient record first — see Adding a Medical Event to a Patient Record.

Click on the Link button to the right beneath the grid. The Link Medical Event window will close. The selected medical event will be added to the Associated Medical Events grid on the Medical Event Detail window. The current medical event will also show up in the selected medical event's Associated Medical Events grid.

To close the Link Medical Event window without establishing a link between the medical events, click on the Cancel button.
