To link a medical event to a specimen that has already been added to the current patient's record:

Open the Medical Event Detail window for the medical event you want to associate with the specimen. See Viewing/Editing a Medical Event for instructions on how to do this.

Select the Details tab on that window.

Click on the + button above the Specimens grid on that tab. The Link Specimen to Medical Event window will open displaying a list of the specimens from the patient record.

Click on the specimen that you want to link to in the Specimens grid on that window. The selected specimen will be highlighted in yellow.

If the specimen you want to link to does not appear in the grid, it may not have already been added to the patient record after all. If it is supposed to have been imported from itBioPath, it's just a matter of waiting until it actually does show up from itBioPath (or verifying that it will be entered in itBioPath). However, if it is not going to be entered in itBioPath, or if you wish to add the specimen manually until it does get added to itBioPath, see Adding a Specimen to a Medical Event for instructions.

Click on the Link button in the lower right corner of the window. The Link Specimen to Medical Event window will close and the selected specimen will be added to the Specimens grid on the Details tab of the Medical Event Detail window for the current medical event.

To close the Link Specimen to Medical Event window without establishing a link to any existing specimen, click on the Cancel button.
