The following process will add a pathology report to a medical event that is linked to an existing pathology report record (entered previously by yourself, other CCR users or users of other HCI applications that access the pathology repository). For instructions on how to add a new pathology report to a medical event without linking it to a preexisting pathology report record, see Adding a New (Not Previously Existing) Pathology Report to a Medical Event. It is suggested, however, that you first try to establish a link to an existing pathology report. Then, if it turns out that the pathology report has not been entered previously, continue by adding the new record.

To add a pathology report to a medical event and link it to the appropriate preexisting path report record:

1. Open the Medical Event Detail window for the medical event in question. See Viewing/Editing a Medical Event for instructions on how to do this.

2. Make sure the Overview tab is selected.

3. Click on the + button above the Path Reports grid on that tab.

Show me the Path Reports grid. Show me the button. The Link to Path Report window will open, displaying the list of existing path reports for the patient. Show me the Link to Path Report window.

4. Click on the row of the pathology report to be linked to the medical event record from those returned in the grid. The row will be highlighted in yellow.

If the pathology report record you are looking for doesn't exist, you will need to add a new path report record — see Adding a New (Not Previously Existing) Pathology Report to a Medical Event. You can start with step 4, since you will already have completed the first three steps among the steps listed above.

5. Click on the Link Path Report button to the left beneath the grid. The Link to Path Report window will close. The pathology report will be added to the Path Reports grid on the Medical Event Detail window, and the Path Report window for the newly linked pathology report will open so that you can add additional information — see Viewing/Editing a Pathology Report and The Path Report Window.
