A tumor can be linked to any number of medical events that are related to that tumor. Once the link has been established, you can access the associated medical event record directly from the tumor record by double-clicking on that event in the Associated Medical Events grid on the Overview tab of the Tumor Detail window.

To link a tumor record to a medical event:

1. Open the tumor detail record for the tumor in question. See Viewing/Editing a Tumor Record for instructions on how to do this.

2. Make sure the Overview tab is selected.

3. Click on the + button above the Associated Medical Events grid on that tab. The Link Medical Event window will open displaying a list of all of the medical events in the patient record. For a description of the Link Medical Event window, see The Link Medical Event Window.

4. Click on the medical event that you want to link the tumor to in the large Medical Events grid that dominates the Link Medical Event window. The row will be highlighted in yellow.

The medical event being linked to must already exist in the patient record. You cannot add a medical event and link to it at the same time. If the medical event does not show up in the Link Medical Event window, you need to add it to the patient record first — see Adding a Medical Event to a Patient Record.

5. Click on the Link button. The window will close and the link between the tumor and the medical event will be established.

To close the Link Medical Event window without establishing a link to a medical event, click on the Cancel button.
