The administration of studies, cancer group users and other settings (such as which medical events the cancer group is interested in tracking) are handled in the CCR's Cancer Group Administration module. Only users who are specified as cancer group administrators have access to the Cancer Group Administration area of CCR — see Security in CCR. Users who are assigned the role of study coordinator in CCR may perform administrative functions relative to their specific study using the Study Editor module — see Study Administration.

Most customization tasks that configure CCR for gathering cancer group-specific information are not handled in the Cancer Group Administration module. Rather, they are performed using the Metabuilder tool, which essentially functions as a separate application — see The Metabuilder.
