Medical event types can be associated with a specific study in the current cancer group. Medical events of a type associated with a study can only be added if your session purpose is Research/Study for that specific study and likewise will also only be visible in the Medical Events grid on the patient detail window when that is your session purpose. Medical events of types that are associated with more than one study will only show up in the session purpose of the study under which they were originally entered.

If you are creating a new medical event type, you will need to save the medical event type first before assigning it to any studies.

To associate a medical event type with a specific study within the current cancer group:

1. Open the Add / Edit Event Type window for the medical event type in question.

This window is used both for adding a new medical event type or for editing an existing one, so you can make the study assignment either while you are adding a new medical event type or you can edit an existing one — see Adding a Medical Event Type to the List of Medical Event Types of Interest to a Cancer Group or Editing a Cancer Group Medical Event Type for instructions on how to get to the Add / Edit Event Type window in each case.

2. Click on the + button above the Studies grid. The Add Study to Event Type window will open.

3. Select the study that you want to assign the medical event type to in the Studies field on this window (the only field on the window).

4. Click on the Add button to add the selected study. The Add Study to Event Type window will close and the selected study will be added to the Studies grid on the Add / Edit Event Type window.

To close the Add Study to Event Type window without adding a study, click on the Cancel button.

5. If you want to assign the medical event type to additional studies, repeat steps 2 through 4 above.

6. Click the Save button to save your changes. The window will close and the changes will be saved.

To close the window without saving any changes to the event type (including the assignment to the study), click the Cancel button. If you have made any changes, a dialog will open asking you to confirm that you want to close the window without saving your changes. Click Yes to continue to close the window or No to return to the Add / Edit Event Type window.
