The process described below will link the current medical event with a lab test result that has been previously added to the patient's record. If the lab test result you would like to add has not already been added to the patient record, you can add it to both the medical event and the patient record at the same time — see Adding a Lab Test Result to a Medical Event and a Patient Record at the Same Time for instructions on how to do this.

To associate a medical event with a previously entered lab test result record:

1. Open the Medical Event Detail window for the medical event to which you want to link the lab test result. See Viewing/Editing a Medical Event for instructions on how to do this.

2. Selected the Details tab.

3. Click on the + button above the Tests grid on that tab.

The Link Test Result window will open with the list of lab test results that have already been added to the patient record.

4. Click on the row of the lab test result to be linked to the current medical event record from those listed in the grid. The row will be highlighted in yellow.

If the lab test result you are looking for doesn't show up in the grid, it hasn't been added to the patient record yet. In this case, you can add it to the medical event and the patient record at the same time — see Adding a Lab Test Result to a Medical Event and a Patient Record at the Same Time for instructions how to do this. (Start with step 4 in that topic, since you will have already completed the previous steps while following the instructions in the current topic.)

5. Click on the Link button beneath the grid. The Link Test Result window will close. The selected lab test result will be added to the Tests grid on the Medical Event Detail window.

To close the Link Test Result window without establishing a link between the medical event and a lab test result record, click on the Cancel button.
