To add an alias (or ID number) to a patient:

1. Open the patient detail record for the patient in question. See Viewing/Editing a Patient Record for instructions on how to do this.

2. Select the Administration tab.

3. Click on the + button above the Patient Aliases grid on that tab. Show me the Patient Aliases grid. Show me the button. The Add / Edit Patient Alias window will open.

4. Enter the alias number in the Alias field on the Add / Edit Patient Alias window.

5. Select the type of alias that applies in the Alias Type drop-down field.

6. Click the Save button to save the alias to the patient record. The window will close and the newly added alias will be appear in the Patient Aliases grid on the patient detail window.

To close the Add / Edit Patient Alias window without adding an alias to the patient record, click the Cancel button. If you have entered any data on the window, a dialog will ask you to verify that you want to close the window without actually adding an alias to the patient record. Show me the dialog. Click Yes to clear the dialog and finish closing the window or No to return to the Add / Edit Patient Alias window and finish adding the alias.

As soon as you start entering data on the Add / Edit Patient Alias window, the text on the Save button will turn bold red, indicating the need to click on the button to save your work.
