Medical Records in itBioPath are similar to pathology reports in that the record is a configurable record. The tabs and fields that are available for data collection of a specific medical record will change depending on a combination of the values selected in the Tissue Type field and the Report Type field. This allows users to collect data that is specific to a particular type of report regarding a specific type of tissue. Pathology report records can be created in either CCR or itBioPath. Users have the ability to link a specimen to an existing pathology report (that was probably created using CCR), this is not the case with medical records. These records are currently used only in itBioPath. To add a medical record to a specimen:
- Open the specimen record you want to add the medical record to.
- Select the Path Reports tab.
- Clickabove the Medical Records list. The Add Medical Record window will open.
- Fill in the requested information on the Add Medical Record window, especially taking care to make sure that the correct Tissue Type (Medical Record) and Report Type are selected, as you will not be able to change these later.
- If the wrong Tissue Type or Report Type is selected for a medical record, the only way to correct the error is to delete the incorrect medical record and add a new (correct) medical record from scratch. These fields will not be editable in the medical record because they are used to determine what configurable aspects (tabs and fields) will appear on the Medical Record Detail window for this record.
- Clickto add the new medical record to the database. The medical record will be added to the Medical Records list on the specimen and the Medical Record Detail window will open.
- Add the rest of the required information on the Medical Record Detail window in the fields that did not appear on the Add Medical Record window.
- Clickin the lower right corner of the window to save your changes and then clickto close the Medical Record Detail window when you are finished.
