As with disbursements, when there are a large number of specimens that need to be registered with a single project, it could be a very repetitive and laborious process to have to enter these registrations one specimen at a time. itBioPath also has a module for batch specimen registration. To register a batch of specimens with a single project:
- Perform a search for the cohort of specimens you would like to register with the project — see The Search Pane for instructions.
One effective way to perform a search for a particular cohort of specimens is to perform a list search with a list of CC#'s (if you have such a list of specimens you would like to disburse) — see Performing a List Search. Select Edit-Batch-Batch Registrations from the menu bar at the top of the application. The Specimen List Registration window will open with the specimens from the cohort listed.
If you perform a list search (see above), there are buttons on the List Search window that can take you directly to the Specimen List Registration window, rather than requiring you to perform the search and then select the appropriate activity from the menu as two separate steps. Use the Batch Registration button.
-
Enter the appropriate registration date in the Registration Date field. (It defaults to the current date.)
-
Select a project to register the specimens to from the Project Name drop down.
- Select the specimens from the cohort to register with the indicated project from the list of specimens. Click to check the box to the left of each row representing a specimen to register.
To select all of the specimens in the list, click the checkbox above the checkboxes column in the list of specimens. Deselect all of the currently selected specimens by clicking on the checkbox again.
- Click. The window will close and the selected specimens will be registered with the indicated project.
