itBioPath connects to several other data sources. Basic patient data (such as a patient's name and address) come from the ITS Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) for patients that have visited a University of Utah Medical Center (UUMC) facility and have been assigned a Medical Record Number (MRN). The EDW is a repository of reports, lab test results and other data for patients of the UUMC collected into a single database. Some important information is contained in large text fields associated with UUMC reports (e.g., pathology reports). Once a patient record in itBioPath has been connected to a patient's ITS medical record, users can access some of these reports to facilitate data entry and associated research. itBioPath records are also linked to records in the Tumor Registry, and users have the ability to view tumor data that has been entered into the registry.
