If the FDT application does not launch automatically, check to make sure you have Java installed. Click here to download the Java runtime environment.

Mac

It is not possible to automatically start the Webstart Java app from the browser if you are on a Mac. Instead, you will need to download the .jnlp and follow these steps.

First, you will be prompted to save or open the .jnlp. Click the 'Save file' button.

Go to your Downloads area in your browser and find the .jnlp that you just downloaded. Right-click and locate the file in Finder.

In Finder, right-click on the .jnlp file and select 'Open As…' and then 'Webstart Java application'.

The FDT Tool should now launch.

Windows

If Java is installed, and your browser still does not launch the FDT application automatically, your browser will just download a .jnlp file. By associating the .jnlp file with the Java Webstart Application, the FDT tool will launch correctly.

For Internet Explorer users, click on the 'Tools' menu, then the 'Internet Options' menu. Select the 'Programs' tab and click on the 'Set programs' button. Now associate the 'Java Webstart Application' with the .jnlp file extension.

For Firefox users, click on the 'Tools' menu, then the 'Options' menu. Select the 'Applications' tab. Now associate the 'Java Webstart Application' with the .jnlp file content type.
