1. Checkout the source code from SourceForge http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/gnomex

2. You must have the Adobe Flex Builder’s SDK to compile GNomEx. If you do not want to purchase this, you can use the Apache open source version of the Flex SDK (Mozilla Public License) in combination with the Flex Data Visualization Components.

— Download and uncompress the Flex SDK 3.6

— Download and uncompress (into the same directory as above) the Adobe Flex 3.6 Data Visualization Components for Flex Builder

3. Modify /path/to/gnomex/build.properties

— Set FLEX_HOME to the directory containing the Flex SDK.

— Set tomcat.dir to the directory of Apache Tomcat 7

4. Make sure that Apache Tomcat has been stopped

5. Run Ant build on build.xml with target=ALL

>cd path/to/gnomex >ant all-opensource-tomcat

NOTE: The Ant build target for Flex compiling requires the extensive JVM memory for the Flex compile. Consider setting your Java runtime arguments to the following: -Xms512m -Xmx900m

6. A new gnomex.war file will be placed in /path/to/tomcat/webapps

7. Restart Tomcat and the gnomex app will be redeployed.
