1. When is disk space calculated?

Disk space for every lab will be computed at the end of every month. In the middle of the month, the same calculation will be performed so that emails can be sent to the Pis, giving them time to move their data off of the server (if so desired.)

2. What is exempt?

The first three months of experiment data files and the first month of analysis files are exempt from disk usage calculations.

The first 100 GB of files of the all other files (experiment files older than 3 months, analysis files older than 1 months) are exempt from disk usage calculations.

3. What action is taken on applicable files?

For the disk space exceeding the first 100 GB, the lab will be billed for disk usage — OR — the files will be automatically deleted.

University of Utah labs with an active chart field will be billed .

All other labs (external labs and internal labs without an active chart field) are not allowed to store this excess data on the server. The files will be automatically deleted.

4. What are the charges?

For every 100 GB over the first 100 GB, the lab will be automatically billed at a rate of $2.00 per month per 100 GB ($240 per TB per year).

Disk Usage Policy

This document describe the disk usage feature. The rate, time period and total disk space are all properties so they can be easily adjust to suit your site's needs. The rates mentioned in this document are for the Microarray Core and Genomics Analysis Core Facility. View
