In order to maintain consistency and accuracy of the data in the database, each cancer group should have at least one user who is assigned a quality assurance role in CCR. This person is not responsible for examining all of the patient records that are entered in the database. Rather, a specific percentage of these records are examined for errors. The person performing quality assurance checks does not actually make most of the corrections themselves. Instead, the QA person marks a record as needing correction and that record shows up in the worklist of the person who originally performed the data entry. That person actually makes the correction, allowing the users performing data entry to learn from their mistakes.
